Jomon Matama Retreat House

Jomon Matama is a large retreat space inspired by
an ancient Jomon-style pit dwelling,
featuring a reed-thatched roof and an earthen floor.

Wi-Fi connection here is limited, naturally creating distance
from everyday digital stimulation.
With its high-frequency reed roof and deep connection to the earth,
simply being in this space gently supports a natural realignment of the senses.

A Gentle Request for Your Stay

The retreat house is a private, entire-property rental.
Kaguya-tei is located nearby, and while there is ample distance between buildings and privacy is fully respected,
we kindly ask guests to refrain from making loud noises or hosting parties.

If you use the garden area (for barbecues, etc.),
please take extra care when handling fire,
as the building features a traditional thatched roof.

About the Reed Roof and Use of the Space

Currently, a portion of the roof is protected during a maintenance period.
This does not affect the exterior appearance, and all indoor areas remain safe, comfortable, and suitable for quiet use.

Please refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking indoors.
(Smoking is permitted outdoors, including in the parking area.)

As the smell of meat and fish dishes tends to linger, we kindly ask that such cooking not be done in the kitchen.
If you wish to prepare these foods, please use the garden area.

When using the garden (including barbecues),
please take extra care when handling fire, as this is a thatched-roof building.

We invite you to enjoy your time here
with a sense of calm, comfort, and respect —
living in harmony with nature and the space itself.

About Parking

Guests staying at Jomon Matama or Kaguya-tei
may use the parking area free of charge.

About the Owner & Retreat Navigator

This space is lovingly cared for by Naoko,
retreat navigator, meditation guide, and founder of Miracle Smile Forest.

Naoko is both the owner and guardian of Jomon Matama and Kaguya-tei.
She does not simply manage these spaces — she lives in relationship with the land and welcomes those who gather here with care and intention.

Through sound, movement, silence, and nature-based practices,
she gently supports people in returning to their natural rhythm, balance, and presence.

These spaces are offered not as conventional accommodations,
but as places for intentional gathering, restoration, and reconnection.

Guests who approach with gratitude, respect, and quiet awareness are warmly welcomed.
